Google Social Bookmarking

Her attendance in the sector of social bookmarking decided Google, creating the service Google Shared Stuff, which is similar with del.icio.us, Reddit and other sites with the same objective. The new service offers in the users the possibility of be shared links with other, with the help bookmarklet that is incorporated in the line of tools browser. One of his most interesting operations is the one that allows the publication links in other services, as Facebook, Furl, del.icio.us, Reddit and Digg. - Even if Google had created for enough time a other service called Google Bookmarks, the new site adds the significance of community. The links that users add, can be from a entire web page, up to a individual picture, a department of text or even a comment of somebody. Thanks to the incorporation with Gmail, each user can watch also his links that add contacts.

Google launches AdSense for mobile

Google announced today the launch of a mobile version of their ever-popular AdSense model. Functioning contextually like standard AdSense, the mobile version will help advertisers target ads formatted especially for the small screen. AdSense publishers are able to generate revenue via clickthroughs. The program is now available in the following countries: US, England, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Russia, Netherlands, Australia, India, China, and Japan.

AdSense for Mobile is intended for AdSense partners who have created websites specifically for mobile browsers, and who want to monetize their mobile content via contextual advertising. Like Google's other AdSense products, mobile text ads run on an auction model. The system automatically reviews the content of publishers’ mobile websites and delivers text ads that are relevant to the websites’ audience and content. Publishers earn money whenever mobile users click on the ads.

Google Pack now with Star Office

Google Pack, the collection of applications recommended by Google, includes a new software: StarOffice, an office suite developed by Sun. In 2000 Sun released StarOffice's source code, which became the foundation of OpenOffice.org, an open source project sponsored by Sun.
StarOffice 8 is a full-featured office suite that contains a word processor, a spreadsheet tool, applications for presentations, databases, math formulas and drawing. It has support for most Microsoft Office formats, but it can also export documents as PDF out of the box. The software normally costs $70, but it's available for free in Google Pack. It's worth noting that StarOffice has a huge installer (more than 140 MB ), so you should download it only if you have a fast Internet connection.
The primary difference between StarOffice and OpenOffice.org being that StarOffice includes some proprietary components like clip-art graphics, fonts, templates and tools for Microsoft Office migration.
The next step would probably be the addition of a plug-in that lets you synchronize local documents with Google Docs & Spreadsheets, so you can have the best of the both worlds: edit complicated documents offline, collaborate and store files securely online. For now, StarOffice is integrated with Google Search and Google Desktop.

Google's URL Removal Tool

Vanessa Fox of the Google Webmaster Central team announced that Google Webmaster Central now supports the easy removal of content from their index.
In short, if you login to your Google Webmaster Central account, you can easily remove content from Google.com, if you have verified the site. The blog post also explains new ways of requesting the removal of content that you do not have access to.
Since then, people have been using it but there has been a lot of confusion on how it works and doesn't work.A Google Group thread has dozens of posts with questions on why pages they remove, still appear. Or why it may take so long to remove a page.
Due to that, Susan Moskwa, of Google Webmaster Central, promised clearer instructions on the Google URL removal tool and also provided more details on what you should do to remove content from Google's index.

Google Buying GrandCentral

Today I was reading on Techcrunch that Google is in acquisition discussions with telephone management startup GrandCentral they think that the deal has been actually been closed.
The basic idea around GrandCentral is “one phone number for all your phones, for life.” As we change jobs, homes and cell phones, there are a lot of phone numbers to keep track of, and keeping everyone up to date with your most recent phone numbers is a real cost. If you use GrandCentral you can give out a single phone number. What happens when that person calls that number depends on his/her relationship to you, and what you are doing at the time. The company, which has raised less than $6 million in capital from Minor Ventures lauched on September and is still in Beta. Also it available only for US and Canada for now.

Google's Ranking Algorithm

The New York Times has recently published an article about Amit Singhal. Amit Singhal is in charge of Google's ranking algorithm. The interview reveals some interesting facts about Google's ranking algorithm.

Google knows that its algorithm is not perfect

"Tweaking and quality control involve a balancing act. 'You make a change, and it affects some queries positively and others negatively,” [...] 'You can’t only launch things that are 100 percent positive.'"

"[...] Any of Google’s 10,000 employees can use its 'Buganizer' system to report a search problem, and about 100 times a day they do."

Why Google changes its algorithm

The article lists a concrete example why Google could change its algorithm:

"Recently, a search for 'French Revolution' returned too many sites about the recent French presidential election campaign — in which candidates opined on various policy revolutions — rather than the ouster of King Louis XVI.

A search-engine tweak gave more weight to pages with phrases like 'French Revolution' rather than pages that simply had both words."

If you want to get high rankings on Google, it's important to know whether you should use your keywords as a phrase or as separate words on your web pages.

This can be different for different keywords. Fortunately, there is a way to find out how you should use your keywords on your web pages (see below).

PageRank is just one of many factors

While PageRank was very important when Google was new, Google now uses many more factors to determine the rankings of web pages:

"PageRank is but one signal. Some signals are on Web pages — like words, links, images and so on. Some are drawn from the history of how pages have changed over time. Some signals are data patterns uncovered in the trillions of searches that Google has handled over the years."

There are many factors that influence the ranking of a web page on Google. If you want to get high Google rankings for your website, then you have to work on all of these factors.

New Search Engine Better Than Google?

A new search engine is going live on June and the creator claims that is better than Google.MyLiveSearch is the brainchild of self-taught software developer Rob Gabriel. He says that My Live Search is the only engine that searches the www live to the second. Results are not retrieved from an indexed database as is with all other search engines, which are days, weeks or months old.MyLiveSearch is fundamentally different. It works through a small browser plug-in. The search terms are put through Google, or other indexed search databases, but those results are treated as "starting points" alongside the user's bookmarks and other popular web hubs. From there, the live search takes over, crawling through hundreds of web pages connected to those starting points in search of more information relevant to the search. The results come back in seconds, and are almost always richer, more detailed and more useful than a standard, index-based search. His product can also search the so-called "invisible web" of dynamically-generated web pages that search engines have trouble indexing.
This technology has been in development for the past 8 years with the team currently based in Melbourne, Australia.

Using Voip 2

After using all Voip software out there I came to the conclusion that Google Talk is the best!Yes,that's right.Well I know it's not exactly Voip but it has the best voice quality! How is that possible?I'm not sure but I think because it's a small and "light" program.Anyway,I suggest you to try it and decide if you like it.The only thing I don't like about it is that you can't make video calls. But from the other hand if it had video the voice quality would not be so good.

Google Voice Local Search

I found a new service from Google. It's called Google Voice Local Search. It's an experimental service that allows people to search for local businesses over the phone. There are no ads on the service, which is available only in the U.S. To use it people can dial 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411) from any phone and search for a business by name or category and be connected to the business at no charge. Users can also get the search results and additional details over SMS if they are on a mobile phone. The service is free and provides information now only on businesses in some United States cities.Cool! It could work.

Adsense Alternative

Adsense vs Adsonar

Adsense is more than double what you can expect from Adsonar, plus, with adsonar, ads seemed to be way off giving my website a 'spammy' appearance.
Adsense vs Bidclix

No comparison here! Adsense beat Bidclix without question and again, the ads seemed to be off target.
Adsense vs Clicksor

Adsense made Clicksor look Ridiculous – the payout was not only unimpressive, but downright poor! Adsense beat Clocksor no problem.
Adsense vs IntelliTXT

IntelliTXT didn't pay quite as good as Adsense, but the support is absolutely awesome. You’ll get an account representative who treats you with respect and genuinely cares about how your site is performing. It’s nice to know that if you have a question, you can simply contact your support representative. Adsense vs. IntelliTXT, great support, targeted ads, great service made this a hard call!
Adsense Alternative

I have always wanted to know what Adsense Alternative is out there, so I put together this list of contextual advertising programs. I have tried each one of these alternatives and list the amount that each program pays and what they look like when you're logged in. The reason I set out to join each program and do a comparative analysis is not because I am dissatisfied with Google's Adsense, but rather I didn't feel comfortable having all my eggs in one basket. I have to tell you, after all my research, Adsense is by far the stable advertising program on the net today with YPN Publisher Network paying the Highest.

You'll notice a table at the top of this page listing each contextual advertiser and associated results for 1000 clicks. The statistics, such as click through rate, clicks and earning per click have all been based on actual figures, but can still be inaccurate. Day of week, advertisers spending limits and more can cause these statistics to change daily, even hourly. For me, they satisfy my desire to know what programs other than adsense, are really out there.

Adsense is not listed as I am not permitted to display statistics, but I can say that Google's Adsense out performs the best of programs by at least double.

I should also say that Vibrant Media is by far the most personable advertising program I have found yet. You'll get a representative that works with you every step of the way to get you up and running and that's just the beginning! More about Vibrant Media can be found here at IntelliTXT
